He'd have been hoping that 2011 would bring better luck than his annus horribilis last year - but it seems fortune isn't smiling on Vernon Kaye just yet.
The 36-year-old star managed to get a parking ticket slapped on his a £65,000 Nissan GTR while hard at work on his BBC Radio 1 show yesterday.
However, the star, who had taken his eldest daughter six-year-old Phoebe Elizabeth to work kept grinning.
Busted: Vernon Kay's £65,000 Nissan GTR was given a ticket after he'd left it too long parked in the street in west London
'Rotten end to a great day': Vernon Tweeted he'd got the ticket as he'd lost his car keys in the Radio 1 studio but still smiled as he left with daughter Phoebe
He posted afterwards on his Twitter: 'Ah man! Rotten end to a great show today! Lost my car keys in the Radio1 studio.Got a parking ticket. Hate that!'
The Family Fortunes host had parked the sleek black motor on Great Portland Street opposite the Radio 1 studios as he got behind the mic.
However, temporarily losing his keys meant that the meter on the busy road ran out - and a passing parking warden was more than happy to issue the fine.
He later revealed on his Twitter that he'd retrieved the keys from the back of a studio sofa.
Mind you, when you've so much money that you can afford a big bucks top-of-the-range sports car like that, one would imagine that a trifling parking ticket won't bother Vernon's budget too much.
Nevertheless, he'll have been hoping for a more forgiving start to this year after 2010 proved to be the former TV golden boy's year from hell when he was caught sexting a host of women behind wife Tess Daly's back.
Vernon and 41-year-old Tess were last seen together on New Year's Eve as they jetted out of the country with daughters Phoebe and 18-month-old Amber as they prepared to say good riddance to the last 12 months.
Putting 2010 behind them: Vernon Kay and Tess Daly flew out of Heathrow earlier this week for a New Year holiday together with their children
They patched things up and put on a brave face when it came to their personal life, despite Tess opining at the time that the revelations had left her 'shattered' and that 'the trust was gone'.
However, they patched things up and Tess forgave Vernon and gave her blessing as he tries to launch his career in the States.
He presented Skating With The Stars, albeit with mixed reviews. However, his bosses in the U.S. appeared to be standing by their star and shortly afterwards it was announced he would also be hosting ABC's Million Dollar Mind Game.
Packed up: The family looked all set for a fortnight in the sun
